The Houston Dynamo haven't exactly been big players in the Designated Player market. While Thursday's signing of Honduran international Oscar Boniek Garcia won't make a huge impact on the ticket sales, it is a sign that they are willing to spend some money.

The right-sided midfielder is not a glamorous signing, but the Dynamo apparently paid for a full transfer. Still, he'll only hit the salary budget at $175,000 as he'll be a midseason signing and not be eligible to play until after June 27.

"Oscar is a good player and I have always liked him," Dynamo head coach Dominic Kinnear said in a statement. "He is a versatile midfielder and a good athlete and should do well for us. He is a good signing for us and the league."

Garcia is more of a playmaker than a scorer, but should help provide some balance to the Dynamo attack. The Dynamo are currently very left-side oriented, with much of the offense running through Brad Davis. The right side has been a bit of a revolving door at midfield, with three players receiving at least three starts.

For more on the signing, be sure to check out Dynamo Theory.

Chelsea and Manchester City have been put on red alert after reports suggest Real Madrid are ready to offload Kaka.

After a much anticipated £58 million arrival from AC Milan in the summer of 2009, Kaka's time at the Santiago Bernabeu has since been blighted by injury and poor form, and he has largely been overshadowed by team mate Cristiano Ronaldo, who joined Kaka at Real in the same transfer window and broke his record transfer fee within a matter of weeks.

Kaka has recently returned from his latest injury layoff, which kept him on the sidelines for eight months at the start of 2011, and was optimistic about regaining his place in the Real Madrid lineup.

However, with the La Liga giants extremely active in strengthening their squad last summer, Kaka's is now facing stiff competition from Mesut Ozil and Angel Di Maria for an attacking berth in Jose Mourinho's squad.

With Ozil and Di Maria both enjoying impressive first seasons at the club, the Daily Mail has reported that the Portuguese could be ready to sell Kaka.

This news will be of particular interest to Barclays Premier League giants Chelsea and Manchester City, both of whom are backed with rich owners who are willing to splash the cash to achieve their ambitions.

While Chelsea only recently signed Spanish World Cup winner Fernando Torres for £50 million in January, both Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka are the wrong side of 30.

For a team who have struggled to compete in the Premier League this season, with whispers that their ageing team can no longer compete with the other big clubs, manager Roman Abramovich will be eager to bring the Brazilian maestro to Stamford Bridge to rejuvenate his ailing team.

Kaka may be tempted to join Chelsea and link up with his one-time mentor Carlo Ancelotti, who managed him at Milan, but Ancelotti's future at Stamford Bridge is far from certain after a disappointing league campaign this season.

On the other hand, while Kaka has rejected City's advances in the past due to his refusal to join a side not competing in Europe, the club are currently sitting comfortably in third place in the Premier League standings, and with qualification for next season's UEFA Champions League a distinct possibility, Kaka could now be open to a move to the City of Manchester Stadium.

Despite his recent troubles, Kaka is still one of the most highly regarded players in the game, having won the Champions League with Milan, the 2002 World Cup, as well as being awarded the Ballon d'Or and FIFA World Player of the Year awards in 2007.

Paul Inces Blackburn Rovers established their place as this seasons Right Result regulars with their sixth and seventh incidents of the new campaign in Saturdays draw with Middlesbrough.

Visiting forward Tuncay will be rueing his luck as his spectacular goal first-half was wrongly disallowed for offside.

Shortly afterwards, the whistle of fortune blew (or didnt, as the case may be) in Boros favour when defender Andrew Taylor wasnt penalised when he punched clear a Rovers cross in his own area.

THE RIGHT RESULT = Blackburn 2-2 Middlesbrough

With almost a quarter of the season gone, the Right Result table is now beginning to take interesting shape, much to the pleasure of followers of one North London team. if not the other.

According to the Right Result table, Arsenal should be equal on points with Liverpool at the top of the table and ahead on goal difference with Chelsea falling to 4th place. Newcastle too should be much farther up the table (11th) than their current position suggests (19th), although in Tottenhams case the table does not lie they are bottom of the pile.

See the full Right Result table here.
Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola has reportedly told the club of his intention to leave the Nou Camp at the end of the season.

The 41-year-old currently works on a one-year rolling contract and, over the past few months, has failed to give a clear indication that will extend his deal beyond its current terms.

Following Barca's defeat to Chelsea over two legs of the Champions League semi-final, Guardiola said he would review his position with the club's president Sandro Rosell as soon as possible.

According to Sky Sports News, despite Rosell's best attempts to retain the services of his manager, Guardiola explained that he wants to leave in the summer. Barcelona will reportedly hold a press conference on Friday in order to clarify their position.

Guardiola has been linked with the Chelsea job ever since the departure of Andre Villas-Boas in early March but, it his claimed, the Spaniard intends to take a sabbatical rather than leave Barca for another post.

The former Barcelona midfielder has enjoyed an unprecedented period of success during almost four years as the club's manager, winning 13 honours, including two triumphs in the Champions League.

However, this season saw Barca concede the Liga title to Real Madrid for the first time since 2008, while Chelsea denied them the chance of defending their European crown.

Ten games into the Premier League season and all three of the new boys are in the top half. Theyve all grabbed some famous wins; Blackpool won at Anfield, West Brom turned over Arsenal at the Emirates while Newcastle destroyed fierce rivals Sunderland.

I will accept right away that this article is a touch premature. As Ian Holloway himself said, Blackpool may not get another point this season. But so far, all these sides are making the pre-season predictions look ridiculous.

The performance of the newly-promoted sides will always say something about the quality of football in the Championship. So far, these teams arent just winning; they are doing it with bold attacking football. Its a good advert for what the Championship, at its best, is all about.

Chelsea defender David Luiz may miss the crucial Champions League quarter-final second leg clash with Benfica on Wednesday after he sustained an ankle injury against Aston Villa.

The Brazil international was forced off at half-time during the 4-2 victory at Villa Park, and was replaced by January acquisition Gary Cahill.

Chelsea have been unable to assess the full extent of the damage so far, and the 24-year-old's prognosis is likely to be revealed over the next day or two.

"We'll have to wait for 48 hours to asses David Luiz," interim Chelsea manager Di Matteo told BBC Sport after the match.

He added: "He felt his ankle ligaments and came off."

Having been derided for his unpredictable performances earlier this season, Luiz has grown in stature in more recent weeks, forming a solid partnership with Chelsea captain John Terry.

Luiz was particularly impressive in Chelsea's most recent Champions League encounters - with Napoli and Benfica - and his potential absence at Stamford Bridge this week will come as a blow to Di Matteo.

Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli is without doubt one of the most interesting, but controversial players in the current game. Flashes of brilliance for the Etihad Stadium outfit, Inter and Italy testify to the 21-year-olds ability, but scandal and strange off-field behaviour have never been too far away in the attackers short career to date. Currently suspended by the FA for kicking out at Tottenhams Scott Parker, here is the flamboyant forwards rap sheet:
Born to Ghanian parents Thomas and Rose Barwuah, Balotelli had a life-threatening intestinal illness as a child that he survived. Taken into the care of Francesco and Silvia Balotelli at the age of three, Balotelli accused his biological parents of glory hunting when they tried to make contact with him after he became a professional footballer.Signed for Inter back in 2006 from Serie C side Lumezzane, Balotelli had a trial at Barcelona at the age of 15 but did not make the grade.Made 59 appearances for Inter, scoring 20 goals. Won three Serie A championships, one Coppa Italia, one Supercoppa Italiana and the Champions League in 2009-10.Infuriated Inter fans when he wore an AC Milan shirt in a television interview, was reportedly seen shopping in the AC Milan superstore, and his numerous fallings out with Jose Mourinho blighted his time at the San Siro.Moved to Manchester City in August 2010 for a fee of ??24?million, following Roberto Mancini to England.Mad Mario has been involved in a raft of motoring incidents; he has been fined ??10,000 in parking fines during his time in the United Kingdom, has had his car impounded 27 times and crashed his Maserati sports car within days of having it imported from Italy. Turned the backyard of his English mansion into a quad bike track.Balotelli is not shy when it comes to flashing the cash; when pulled over police the striker had ??5000 in his wallet. When asked why he was carrying so much money by the police officer he replied: Because I am rich. In December 2011 he dressed up as Santa and handed out money on the streets of Manchester; the same month Balotelli also donated ??200 to his local church, before paying for a ??1000 round in a bar the same day.Disciplinary matters have blighted his career Balotelli has been sent off against West Brom, Dinamo Kiev and Liverpool. Fined ??100,000 for throwing a dart at a City youth player.Let off fireworks in his house the night before a Manchester derby, before becoming an ambassador for firework safety. Broke a curfew before a game against Chelsea to go to a local curry house, where he was involved in a mock sword-fight using rolling pins.Scored in the said Manchester derby and unveiled a t-shirt with Why Always Me? on it; City went on to win 6-1 at Old Trafford.Has been involved in training ground bust-ups with Vincent Kompany, Jerome Boateng, Carlos Tevez and most recently Micah Richards. After City won the FA Cup in 2011, Balotelli said: This season I have been s***. Can I say that?, on live television. After he won the European Golden Boy trophy in 2010, Balotelli claimed to have never heard of runner up Jack Wilshere and stated that Lionel Messi was the only player in the world better than him.Incensed Roberto Mancini by trying an audacious pirouette finish when through on goal in friendly match against LA Galaxy in the United States; was instantly substituted.Made his international debut against Ivory Coast in August 2010. Was spotted using his iPad on the Italy bench in a game against the Faroe Islands. Was summoned in September 2011 to give evidence in a high-profile Mafia court case in Italy.
And finally, there was this:

Super Mario is becoming an ever-more important member of Manchester Citys squad, and his talent in undeniable. On the international scene, he seems to be in Cesare Prandelli??s preferences currently, and is set to star for Italy at Euro 2012 this summer. However, most football fans are captivated by the Italians unorthodox behaviour away from the game, with the above list set to grow in years to come.

Chelsea have confirmed their home game with Fulham on Boxing Day will go ahead as planned, despite the possibility of industrial action by Tube drivers.

The start of legal action aimed at halting the strike - which could affect several sporting fixtures - in a row over pay was delayed at the High Court on Wednesday. London Underground (LU) is challenging the validity of the strike called by the Aslef union's leadership over its claims for additional Boxing Day pay.

A hearing had been set for 10:30am at the High Court in London but was rescheduled for 2pm. However, before that hearing could take place, Chelsea released a statement saying: "Following careful consideration, Chelsea Football Club's match against Fulham will take place as planned at 1pm on 26th December."

Copyright (c) PA Sport 2011, All Rights Reserved.

Chelsea are set to renew their interest in Nigerian international Victor Moses and make an improved bid after being knocked back with their previous bid.

A report in the Evening Standard claims the Stamford Bridge club are still intent on signing the Wigan Athletic winger, despite reports from earlier this week saying they would look elsewhere.

Blues manager Roberto di Matteo will now sanction a new £6million offer after Wigan chairman Dave Whelan dismissed their previous £4million bid.

The 21-year-old has just a year left on his contract and has indicated to Wigan that he does not want to sign an extension, which brought an angry response from Whelan.

"We took this lad as a teenager, and everything he has he owes to [manager] Roberto Martinez and Wigan Athletic,” he said.

“If he gets the move to Chelsea, will he get to play in the first team every week? That's what he needs at present – experience and guidance.”

Moses moved to Wigan in 2010 for a fee thought to be in the region of £2.5million from Championship side Crystal Palace, where he had come through the youth ranks.

After initially choosing to represent England, Moses then switched his international allegiance to Nigeria, the country of his birth and made his debut earlier this year.

Hercules host to Getafe with playmaker Tote admitting they are having to treat every home game like a cup final.

Hercules start the weekend just two points above the relegation zone after losing five of their last six matches.

However, four of those defeats have come away from home, where the promoted outfit have done poorly this season with just one win recorded and three goals scored from 13 games.

Fortunately for the Alicante-based outfit they have been much better at home, where they have picked up 19 of their overall 25-point haul to keep out of the bottom three, but those statistics means the pressure is on Hercules to continue doing well at the Jose Rico Perez stadium.

Tote said: "It's not easy to play a final every game at our stadium, but that's what we've looked to do. We need to accept that and we know that every home game is very important and only a victory is worthwhile."

Tote was named on the bench for last weekend's defeat to Sevilla having started the previous victory over Real Zaragoza, and the former Real Madrid player will be hoping to be back in Esteban Vigo's first XI.

"I still don't really know why one day I was a starter and the next I wasn't. However, when I play I try to enjoy it as much as possible and when I don't, to be calm," said the number 10.

"I won't accept resigning myself to the situation though, because if I did I would go home. That would suggest I don't care if I play or not. But in any case, the line-ups are not done by me."

Getafe make the trip to the east coast having lost 1-0 at home to Racing Santander last weekend, going down to an 88th-minute penalty.

Despite that defeat they are in a healthy position in La Liga, lying 10th on 31 points - eight points above the relegation places and six adrift of the European spots.

Getafe will be confident of avoiding the relegation dogfight, while coach Michel also believes Hercules will win their battle to stay up.

"Hercules are doing a very good job and I don't think they will have much trouble staying up," said Michel, who has strikers Manu del Moral and Javier Arizmendi available after injury.

"At home they are very powerful, and they have signed well without losing the essence of last season's side. They don't look like a recently-promoted team."

Real Madrid drew a very, very feisty Valencia side on Sunday at the Santiago Bernabéu in Madrid, ensuring that the race to the end of this Liga campaign will be long and drawn out. Much ink has already been spilled (is this a saying?) about Madrid's wasted opportunities, Valencia's daring defense and epic keeper Guaita, so I won't waste any more time on it here. It was a great game, and a well-deserved 0-0 draw.

Now, as Real Madrid and Barcelona head into a very complicated April, only a couple matches loom large: Real Madrid's showdown Wednesday with Atletico Madrid, and the Clásico (to end almost all Clásicos, you know, except for that Champions League Final Clasico...if it happens) on April 21st. Welcome to Thunderdome.
Tuesday, April 10Osasuna vs. RCD Espanyol
20:00 CET (2:00 PM EST)

Espanyol is about to risk irrelevancy (if they haven't stumbled into it already), and desperately need a win to remain close to the top places in the table. Osasuna could very well re-establish themselves as a legitimate European contender (well, sorta) with a big win. I'll be watching.

Pick: 2-3 to Espanyol. I believe!
Real Sociedad vs. Real Betis
20:00 CET (2:00 PM EST)

Sociedad are a first division side. I just know it. Betis, I'm not so sure about. But I don't think that either side deserves to be relegated this year (when there are so many better teams to relegate...).

Pick: 2-1 to la Real.
Barcelona vs. Getafe
21:00 CET (3:00 PM EST)

Barça are on a tear right now, dominating opponents like it's 2010 all over again. But can this uncannily well-timed winning streak come to an end against an overmatched Getafe side that already pulled off one of the shocks of the year by beating Barcelona earlier? Well, suffice to say that even the great sides have a tough time beating Barça twice. Somehow I doubt Pedro León and company will do Real Madrid any favors this week.

Pick: 5-1 to Barcelona.
Wednesday, April 11Granada vs. Athletic Bilbao
20:00 CET (2:00 PMM EST)

Granada are one of the teams that I hinted at earlier. They could easily be relegated this year, and I wouldn't bat an eyelash. OK, that's a bit unkind. I like Granada, for what it's worth--the city, that is. Anyhow, Marcelo Bielsa.

Pick: 0-2 to Athletic.
Sporting Gijón vs. Levante
20:00 CET (2:00 PM EST)

I think it's finally time to accept that Levante aren't a fluke. OK, I kinda accepted that a few weeks ago. But their victory over Atleti last weekend was truly fantastic, and they deserve to be in the top spots of the league. And that's a pretty absurd thing to say about a side with such a low payroll.

Pick: 1-2 to Levante.
Valencia vs. Rayo Vallecano
20:00 CET (2:00 PM EST)

RAYO SCORED 6 GOALS THIS WEEKEND! 6!!!! You know how many Valencia scored?! 0!! Who were they playing against? DOESN'T MATTER!

Pick: 1-2 to RAYO. Homer pick alert.
Atletico Madrid vs. Real Madrid
22:00 CET (4:00 PM EST)

Let's put aside all the "when was the last time Atleti beat Madrid?!" gags and focus on a couple other significant factors. Atleti has been way worse than advertised this year (in Spain) but have managed to pick up their game when they need to--in the Europa League, basically. They played Barcelona to touch-and-go 2-1 loss (thanks to a hyper-cheeky Messi free kick), but lost to Levante this weekend while seeming exceedingly tired from partying. The only question about this match is which Atleti will show up. Either way, it should be fun to watch.

Pick: 1-3, though it might seem closer.
Thursday, April 12Villarreal vs. Málaga
20:00 CET (2:00 PM EST)

Hey look! It's a match between two of my favorite non-Madrid teams! I love Villarreal, and fully believe in them this season...and I love Málaga's nouveau-riche panache. And hey, if Málaga actually, you know, works out then it might attract more investors to a dying sport. Seriously.

Pick: 2-2 to us!
Racing Santander vs. Mallorca
21:00 CET (3:00 PM EST)

Hey! It's two teams I don't like at all!

Pick: 0-0.
Sevilla vs. Real Zaragoza
22:00 CET (4:00 PM EST)

I was really excited about Zaragoza climbing out of the relegation zone. It's still possible, but with matches against Barcelona, Sevilla, and company on the docket (they already lost to Messi), it's looking a bit grim. Here's to hope!

Pick: 0-1. To hope!
